I am Mark Ma, a motivated student, researcher, and engineer. Everyone around me would describe me as a person who ponders the nature of everything. My innate curiosity to learn is my defining characteristic, which makes me a great problem-solver and a visionary.
I hold a degree in building engineering and management, but my passion for solving pressing issues with technology led me to study computer science and machine learning at the University of British Columbia. I was intrigued by the power of data and how it can surface actionable information. In particular, I am interested in deep learning and decentralized machine learning.
My experience with complex real estate projects has equipped me with the necessary skills to embrace changes and act responsively, coordinate conflicting interests without compromising end-goals, and most importantly, deliver quality projects in a timely and cost-effectively manner. Therefore, I hope to combine my software development and project management skills together to democratize artificial intelligence, wherein I can become an enabler and evangelist for the next generation of intelligent algorithms and systems.
Hobbies: I enjoy music, movie, reading and hiking. I am also a big fan of soccer, and my favorite active player is Mesut Ozil.
